Fall 2009 Issue

Darkened muses in the form of ash-gray clouds blur horizons, turning the gloom of a heavy sky into the foreshadowing of a season to follow. Breezes, once warm against the face, now carry a slight chill, and yet, fluttering in its wake are the burning reds and gold shimmers of fall lazily shuffling down abandoned streets. Swollen gullies surge with the remains of a storm that raged earlier that day: broken twigs and discarded McDonald’s wrappers floating in a tranquil stream of orange and yellow leaves. The sporadic weather of autumn slowly creeps upon us.

A season noted for its vibrant multitude of varying colors and holidays autumn offers authors and artists, photographers and sculptures a refreshing change in inspiration. Some may focus on the uplifting scenery splashed with brilliant colors, others the forsaking and ominous clouds forcing them closer to winter. Despite the slow decline of plants and vegetation, the potential for creativity flourishes, booms, explodes with muses ranging from a battered wind jacket to the symbolic properties of the season itself. The only question you must ask yourself is which muse will you use?
